don't refuse to be what you are ."

Voice Dialogue, as a psychology, offers similar advice. Expand to allow the paradoxes that follows
Loosely, you, are not that self; that self is a way of being what you are. Attend closely, You Are (the) Awareness of being that way. So yes, don't pretend to be (don't identify with) what you are not.
Don't be (a) one, a self, who refuses to be what you are. You Are All the ways of being, all the the selves and what gives rise to them. Don't reject, renounce, refuse any way, any self. To refuse is to be identified with the refuser. Don't pretend to be a self/object. Ultimately, don't refuse to be what you are: no one, no thing but the still, compassionate awareness that allows all ways to appear, to exist. Put another way, surrendering 'your' 'self' is to know what you are: selfiess Awareness.
This knowing is not cognitive; this objectless knowing IS what you are.
No ways of being, no selves lead to this knowing Awareness as it is already right here, right now, inherent in, and inseparable from all the infinite permutations of being.
In knowing This That You Are, all the ways continue.

Wisdom says,'I am nothing.'
Between these two my life flows.
